I can has tag?

Wednesday, April 23, 2008   |   4 comments

Exciting news, peoples - I have been tagged for the first time eva! Swit swoo! My tagger is the very lovely Rachel from tasty Fairy Cake Heaven, who I "met" initially over on Beaut.ie and who inspired me to embark on my first culinary adventure since chocolate Rice Krispie buns.

Admittedly, my individual chocolate puddings with a gooey centre weren't a million miles removed from their predecessors but what can I say? I like a birrov chocolate, so I do.

So back to the tagging! Apparently, the thing is to describe yourself in six words and then tag six other bloggers to do the same. Which is a nice idea to try and give a sense of what you might be like IRL, but but - I don't actually know six other personal bloggers. However, I (think that I) am:

- Beauty mad
- Distractable
- Friendly
- Indecisive
- Loyal
- Tidy

... although maybe people who do know me might take issue with some of those! (Seriously, did I mention that I'm indecisive?)

Now for the tagee to become the tagger:
- Anne @ AnneElicious
- Niamh @ Pretty, Shiny, Sparkly
- Rosie @ Make Your Own Kind Of Music
- Belle @ Totally Should... Totally Don't
- Yvonne @ Yvestown
- Zee @ Homebug

Hope I've done that right!

Grand stretch in the evenings...

Friday, April 18, 2008   |   5 comments

Ah, I know it's such an auld wan thing to say but seriously - isn't there a grand stretch in the evenings all the same? Tis great to be getting home from work when it's still all nice and bright; the only downside is that I'm becoming completely obsessed with the need to Do House-y Things.

The rest of the year, I can get away with not painting/doing the garden/whatever because sure it's black dark when I get home and sure these are things that you really do need daylight to do properly. And then I'm busy busy at the weekends, so stuff gets put on one of my long fingers will just have to wait until the clocks go forward.

Of course, it's only to myself that I have to make these justifications but it totally works. Fools me every time.

Since it's that bit brighter now, these excuses just won't wash. So far since the clocks have gone forward, I've:
- done a bit of sorting of the back garden, laying roll-out turf and putting down weed-control membrane where my fabilis gravelled borders will someday be going;
- sanded the stairs [with assistance from Himself] in preparation for its paint job;
- and... er... that's about the height of it actually!

I am in Doing House-y Things mode, though [cue lots of trawling through lovely sites like Homebug and my back issues of and clippings from Livingetc], and planning all the work that I'll definitely get done get started on think about this weekend. Sadly, one of the things I won't be doing is wondering how to decorate a study as our little gaff is a just fractionally too small for that kind of mullarkey. Even so, I couldn't help but admire this snazzy curvy-shelf-turned-desk that I stumbled upon over on BLTD:

What's goin' on

Monday, April 14, 2008   |   5 comments

No posts for the last while as there's been an awful lot of Schtuff happening lately. What with multiple Bank Holiday weekends, laying turf in the back garden myself, a baaaaaaad dose of flumpiness and my Granny not being well, the blog has not exactly been top of the agenda.

Soz about that.

Just to keep you in the loop, I am thinking about doing a spot of job hunting. Actually, "thinking" is probably a bit too strong; I'm more wondering about considering to maybe do a spot of job hunting. The commute is beginning to really get on my wick and a job in Dublin city centre would probably knock an hour and a bit off my journeying every day.

The other thing is [not to get all concieted on you, like] I feel like I'm being wasted where I am. At least I feckin' hope I'm being wasted here. It'd be pretty terrible to discover that actually Junior Accounts Receivable Assistant is all I'm good for..!

Of course, I should just get up off my arse and get stuck in.

And I will. Right after I finish this cup of tea and admire my long fingers.
