Spending ban... What spending ban?!

It is done.

I have, after about 2 years of dithering, gone ahead and ordered the wildly expensive Cole & Son's "Woods" wallpaper in the cream/taupe colourway pictured above (that's 69-12148, product code fans) for the wall in our dining room via SKI Interiors in Naas.

Design hounds will no doubt be yawning at this point and thinking that this paper's been done to death, dahling, and maybe that's true, but I love it. I think that it's interesting without being overwhelming. I think it has depth and won't "pull" the wall into the already fairly small space to the extent that another patterned paper or dramatic paint choice could. I love that it's naturalistic and brings the outside in, and that it echoes the woods down the road from us which we can see from the back of the house, which will be choc-full of bluebells in a couple of weeks.

A first coat of Farrow & Ball's "New White" modern emulsion has just gone up on the other walls in the dining room/kitchen, courtesy of my own fair hand, which is a very good match to the background colour of "Woods" and hopefully will prevent it from looking too feature wall-ish (Zee says feature walls are O.U.T. Eek.)

Perhaps some day I'll stop getting distracted by pressing matters like taking inspiration cuttings out of interiors magazines or wondering about a bed for our room, and actually get the downstairs of the house completely finito and be able to put up a few pics!
